While at work yesterday, I was in the Christmas section and happened to notice a new item we had received. It is a wireless remote control that has a range of 50 ft. It is HD Sku 748-178 and sells for $9.97. It is rated 13 amps/125V, Max 1000 watts. The remote is powered by a Size A23 battery. The receiver power input plugs directly into the wall and has two receptacles to plug items you want to control.
I plugged it into the wall and then plugged my ShopVac into it. This is the vac I use as a dust collector for my jointer. Initial testing of the remote has been good. It is a lowcost solution to turning a shopvac off and on. These units are a seasonal item and quantities are limited, so if you want one, it's best to get on over to your local HD BORG.
