Building a bar

I'm brand new to the forum and quite new to woodworking as well. I took on the daunting task of building a bar in my basement. I've covered the front of the bar with cherry plywood and will trim it with cherry as well. My trim stain will be a different color than the plywood. Should I stain the trim first then put it up. Or put it up and then stain it. This probably is as basic of question as there is I just cant find an answer. I also will be building some base cabinets for under a countertop. Can anyone direct me to some basic directions. Thank you for you help..
