Acrylic Mirror For Veneering?
I was just wondering were the best place is to get a two piece 12’’ x 12’ hinged acrylic mirror, One that is hinged together for the purpose of viewing various potential book or radial matches on one sheet of veneer, prior to cutting all the leaves out. Basically to have the ability to select the veneer according to pattern, color and graining allowing one to get the most attractive results when all the leaves are joined together, which is difficult to visualize any other way accept with a mirror like the one below. I only found one on line but it was only 6’’ high. Anyone know of a good place that is reasonably priced and the size I am looking for? Or close to it.

Richard,
I went to Lowe's and bought a cheap mirror the right size and cut it into the size that I wanted. Then, used the "solution for all things" duct tape as a hinge. Works very well.

I bought a sheet off the internet - I forget the company - and cut it on my table saw (just keep the stuff moving - don't stop half cut). I shared the expense with some friends - we were able to make several mirror sets from the sheet.

Any tape will work as a hinge - I use packing tape - but duct tape sounds like it would work fine, also.

Any place you can find plastic mirror stock will work.

[You really don't need 12" high - it won't hurt anything but a mirror not that high works fine. I'd have to measure mine but I know it's not 12" high. It does help if the mirror is longer. So I'd recommend 18" long by 6" to 10" high.]
[I think this (http://www.usplastic.com/catalog/product.asp?catalog_name=usplastic&category_name=21314&product_id=9926&cookie_test=1) is where I got mine - item 42462. You can make a number of mirrors from that sheet.]

I went to the local glass shop and had them cut some the sizes I wanted, also had them sand the edges so the weren't so sharp. The duct tape does the trick for the hinge. Just don't drop them or you'll have 7 ys bad luck and no body needs that these days:D.

Hey Mike did you get /use 1/8’’ or 1/4’’ thick material?
I used 1/8". Nothing wrong with the 1/4" but you don't really need it.
