Is there a rule of thumb for spacing of 2 hinges on a cabinet door?
These are permanent garage cabinets so I would like to do it right.

42" high by 23" wide for bottom cabinet doors, 39" high by 23" wide for top doors. 1-1/8" thick at the hinges. Using recessed butt hinges.

Thanks

Years ago I asked the same question and the short answer is no, there doesn's seem to be a rule as to where to put the hinges on a door. I go with what looks good, which is one hinge about 1/4 of the way from the top and the bottom of the door. I measure the door and mark off 1/4 of the length from the top and bottom. Then I set the hinge so the hinge is tight to that mark but above it (for the uppr hinge) and below (for the lower hinge) the lower mark. Attach your hinges with double sided tape, hold it up or in the opening and step back and see how it looks.

I like the look of the outside tip of the finial even with inside edge of the rails.
