I am making up a vacuum chuck system and I need to get a gauge. I would like to get one that is large enough to see and be calibrated in the 0-30 range.

I looked at surplus center -- ebay.

I also noticed that some are filled with a liquid to dampen the needle movement when using some pumps. Is this required when using a Gast rotary pump?

Any ideas --- Thanks

Tom, HVAC supply stores like United Refrigeration or a good automotive supply should have them.

Tom, there are a number of them to choose from at Surplus Center.

Tom,

Generally this is on better quality gages and its a protection against rapid pressure fluctuations that could damage the gage or disturb the accuracy.

It has little or nothing to do with any particular pump make or model, rather the application.

I bought my last one at Granger for like $8.95. I use it on my casting pressure pot for when I put a vacuum on it for dying. I works well.

Good Luck

Tom, if you need to look at one for any visualization, you're welcome to bop down here. Just let me know the "when" part so I can insure I'll be around.

I picked one up at the local car parts store for under $10, and mounted it in my sightline when vacuum mounting.
