hi
my sister has asked me to make a
cake stand for her wedding.
the type they sell on ebay with 7 tires the round bits are a no brainer
but the cross type bits in the middle that seperate the tires now thats what i need or something like. I have to be able to flat pack them as she live the other side of the country and it needs to be simple for her to put together. so any help you all can give i would be very greatful

Something along the lines of the attached illustration may work. connect the vertical pieces with each other and then lock them together with a center horizontal piece. I designed it so each layer will lock together with each other. Remember that the thickness of acrylic fluxuates so the notches will vary.

Cheers,
Doug

I'm sure you can make it 'stand' but can you teach it to walk?

Sorry... I had to..:D

Mike if I were you, I'd buy the one on ebay, getting those type of things together is quite often more trouble than they are worth if you are only making one. The amount of time it would take to design it and assemble it will not cover the cost that you can buy it from them. Unless of course, you just have to be the one that does it. Plus I think it will be made out of extruded acrylic which is much more resilient than cast acrylic. Gluing the pieces together in itself is an art form.
