I stopped at a borg store (the orange one) to pick up a piece of 1x4 cherry or maple to make a couple of spatulas for my boss. Since I was only looking for a 14" of good board, I figured I could paw through and find something good enough for stirring ground beef.
I don't know whether it's considred curly or quilted maple, but I bought the whole board and looked for more. Just the one, but when all you have is a mini lathe, six feet is a lot of wood.
Here's the first spatula from it. Sanded to 180 and wiped with mineral oil.
