The planes I have restored are generally for myself. I did do a catch and release on a No6 but trust me there was no profit from it. I got enough to cover my investment and got enough supplies to do a couple more planes. I wouldn't mind doing stuff like this on the side, but would never consider it a profitable venture. I just like seeing these old tools out serving a new generation instead of rusting away.

Aircraft paint removers? Is there a brand name you'd recommend? I have a few tools in need of said treatment.

Aircraft Paint Remover
Probably the most prevalent stripper on the market. I picked it up at O'Riely's, but most automotive stores will carry it.

I tested out both the brush on and the aerosol. The aerosol is good for the first application, but after that the brush on stuff is better for getting the spots that are still holding finish. Usually takes 2-3 applications to get total removal of finish.
