I'm kind of liking this idea:
101832
The electric hammer.
20 Thousand beats per minute

However, I'll wait till Bosch answers.

I saw that advertised a couple of weeks ago. I wonder how it would work. The only way I could see it really serving a purpose is if you are stuck in a corner and cant swing a hammer. But how much torque can it develop? Do you think it could drive in much of a nail? And on top of that you uses nails anymore. If I am using nails I am using a nail gun.
I think it is for the gaget collectors.

I see it somewhat as an electric version of a pneumatic palm nailer (http://www.amazon.com/Senco-PC0781-Pneumatic-Palm-Nailer/dp/B000087QPD) which I've used with good effect to drive nails where a nail gun was impractical - nailing in joist hangars for example.

Palm nailers have been around for ages. Like Tom said they have their use but unless you are in tight quarters, I can't imagine where I'd rather have one over a conventional hammer.

I can - nailing off 150-200 Simpson connectors (12 nails each) thanks to an overly conservative (paranoid?) structural engineer. Glad I don't build in California anymore. Even better are nail guns made for metal connector work. My $.02.
