Do any of the captured hollow form turning arrangements have a pattern guide to be followed to turn the inside of the work as to the same contour as the pattern? Seems like there should be, as the alternate interior angle is equal.. I guess in other words,an inside duplicating device.Yes, I am a novice and want to learn to make shallow "pot-bellied" vessels. Thks,pw:)

Paul, if you look at most of the captured systems they have a laser attachment that shines a beam of light as a guide. The laser can be adjusted to shine at a certain distance from the cutter on the hollower. When the laser follows the outside contour of the HF, the inside will have that same contour at the thickness you set.

Curt said it with the articulating arm unit or the captured unit you set the laser up for wall thickness and it will follow the outside contour. I have did this freehand but you need to keep measuring to make sure you have your wall thickness and don't go thru the side.
