I'm thinking of building a shelf/bench that would hold a miter saw. Seriously considering a Makita ls1013. Can anyone tell me the distance I need from the front of the fence back to the wall?

Maybe my first attempt wasn't worded very well. I know there are a bunch of folks on here with this saw. How deep is the saw from fence to full extension in the back? I want to start building a bench this weekend and it's a critical piece of info.

James, 20" from inside of the fence to the back of the adjuster handle for the tilt. Make sure to leave some room for getting to that handle though. Great saw, you won't be disappointed.

Like Steve says, that would be the bare minimum! I've have mine set 21.5 inches as to not crowd the bevel adjustment handle!
