Earlier this year I had a post to identify this wood, and the conclusion was mulberry. The bowl ended up 10" x 5" finished in oil and beall buffed, then ren wax. Pictures don't to the finish justice, this one really shines, I really like the way mulberry takes a finish.

Very nice bowl Steve! Love the grain!

Been thinking about trying some of that Renaissance Wax - what do you think of it? I've heard that it doesn't show water drops or finger prints like the carnuba does.

Steve,

I think the reneaissance wax is great. I switched to it when I had some bowls at a shop and got water spots on them. The ren wax seems expensive, but a little goes a long way. I bought the larger size can and have used it on probably 10 bowls or more and only used about a quarter inch. Use sparingly, and it is ready to buff almost as quickly as you apply it. It resists water spots and does not show finger prints. I don't see me ever going back to carnuba.

Steven,

Fantastic, in the 3rd pic it looks like a picaso form stretching. Very nice work.
