Jim,

I haven't tried it yet but it is on my list. Maybe I should quit watching the videos and get to work;).

Those are some of the best videos I've ever seen! I've been wondering about that "Celtic Knot"... but whats the angle on the mitre saw?.. Anyway the Christmas tree ornament is one I'll try next week.. THANKS FOR POSTING THIS!!

Here is a link to some ornaments I turned last year after watching Marley's video... with a slight variation. My wife made the Christmas trees/snowmen/Etc out of glass.

I had one year less turning experience this time last year, which means I had almost none, so I wasn't able to ever get the darned openings shaped like I wanted.

After being reminded of the video, I think I'll try it again and see if a year makes any difference.

Thanks for posting the link.

At the end of the bowl video he uses a big face plate looking thing to hold the bowl for turning off the stub. What is that thing called?

(Sorry, I'm sort of a noob at this stuff. Thanks!)

This goes back several years, but on Chris Wright's turning forum they have 'challenges' where they choose a catagory of turning, everyone turns something, and then they exchange pieces. This particular challenge was in spring, like March or April, but I turned this inside out ornament with two layers and a spindle inside that. I had several people ask me how to do it so I put together some crude instructions. Larry, with his video talents expanded on those and made the great video that everyone can now watch to see how to make an inside out ornament. But this was my first (certainly not the first), made from pine for the outside layer, african mahogany for the inside layer, and redheart for the inside spindle and the top and bottom finials. The spindle and inside layer have an axle that allows them to turn inside each other.

Hi Curtis, I still have your tutorial.
My first Inside-Out looked kind of like this, just not as nice....
