Our club is doing ornaments next month so I thought I'd try to make a few. I don't do spindle work much, but still managed to come up with this for my first try. It is holly with the top and bottom spindle being turned from plum.

Jack:
That is a nice piece. I like the holly and plum combo. What kind of hollowing tools did you use?
All the best.

Great looking ornament and great wood combo. What did you hollow the globe with and what kind of finish?

Thanks for the compliments everyone. Bernie, I use an old berger tool that I sharpened into a scraper. It is tapered down so it fit in the small hole enough to get it hollow. I'm looking at turning a long allen wrench into a hollowing tool just for doing the ornaments. I used a few coats of deft on for finish. Did not buff this one, I just thought it was not a good idea.:)
