Is there a good mail-order source for unfinished, paint-grade kitchen cabinets, assembled or not?

Any general suggestions on this subject?

http://www.rtacabi.net/ has a pretty good line of RTA cabinets. They're all finished, but you might find that's actually less expensive than doing it yourself.

ikea kitchen cabinets are a pretty good deal for the money if you don't want to spend a lot or if you're flipping the house. check into the tandembox upgrades for the smooth, self-closing drawers. they're also pretty easy to install with the upper cabinet wall brackets and the levelling feet.

They're for a friend's house. He is planning to stay in this one for a long time. Small town, Tennessee. He is also looking at Norm's "as seen on TV" build-your-own out of prefinished ply, poplar, pocket screws, and biscuits option.

I got crunched on my remodel schedule (long story) and had to buy cabinets vs making them. I bought these from CSH and was happy with the purchase.

check with your local cabinetmakers, dave. i'm sure they'll all be more than interested in any potential work given the current economy and they'll be even happier when you tell them that you want the doors unfinished! most cabinet door suppliers can also sell you the doors unfinished. there are also several companies that will ship you the case parts like cabparts.com or kitchencabinetdepot.com
