Hi,
I just got my (used) Jet table saw and am wondering what you would suggest to put on the top to inhibit rust. In the military we used oil but, we also worked with metal and not wood. I would appreciate and help. Thanks

Johnson's Paste Wax.

I am thinking about trying a wipe-on layer of t9-boeshield and then top that with paste wax.

I have been told not to use anything with silicons in it.

Christopher Schwarz, (chief?) editor of Popular Woodworking magazine wipes off his cast iron with a rag that's wet with WD-40. Since I have a can, I started with that. I also waxed my tables with an old candle to reduce friction.

I haven't had any rust, but my tables are only a few months old.

Great. I will get some wax. Thank you.

I use T-9 by Boeshield as it penetrates the porous cast iron, and deposits a coating deep inside, then I use TopCote by Bostik to make the top surface slick.
