Heres my first attempt at some finials hopefully to soon become some ornaments for our tree this year. Im not real sure what Im doing with these yet but they are fun to turn. What do you think about the overall look? All critiques welcome.
Sorry for the horrible pictures, not my bag!!
Thanks,

Jim

Jim:
They look good to me. What wood are they and what size? Thanks for showing them.
All the best.

Don the wood is walnut and they are 4" & 5" long. The short one is 1" at the base and the longer one is around 7/8". I also just realized that these pictures are really horrible! They werent the best but they werent that darn blurry. Must have happened when I downsized them.

I wish I could do as well as you have done.

You're doing well, and they'll only get better as you gain practice. This coming from a guy who's only made about 4 decent ones total. :D
They'll balance out better when the lowest part (between features) is wider than each successive upper part. At least that's what they tell me. :)
I like the one on the left the most, but they both look good! Keep it up!

Jim - they both look pretty good so far! Keep turning and see what variations you can come up with. You will eventually create a style that just jumps out at you! Have fun with it!
