Walnut winged bowl from a small crotch. The limb growing out the side had been cut or broke off at some time and the tree grew back around it. It's about 12" corner to corner, 2.5" tall, the bark was gone the second I turned the lathe on. Oil and lacquer finish.

Curt, that is an awesome piece of wood and you did it justice. Very nice job. I like the way the bowl part seems to be growing out of the wood. the finish looks very good, also.

Curt - very nice work! Beautiful rich colored wood! Really like the natural edge and the protruding branch section - cool effect! Very nice finish and great job on the bowl! Very defined lip - yet it still blends in! Really nice piece! Thanks for sharing!

Curt, That's a killer bowl. You really did a great job on that piece. The grain is really nice and the way the bowl just sort of emerges from the natural shape of the log looks great.

Curt, I really like this bowl. It would be a hard one for me to sell or give away. The NE wing style is complimented by this piece of wood. Beautifully done! John

Wow... that's a nice piece, Curt. I can almost see the utensils setting on each side. Now... if you drill the protrusion for the napkin holder :D.

Nice work!
