I picked this up at an auction. I believe that it is a spokeshave but I'm not sure. Could someone please tell me the correct name for this tool, thanks.

It is a spokeshave, but used for curved surfaces (inshave). The one handed version often used for chair seats is called a scorp.

It is indeed an in-shave. Sometimes these highly-curved examples are called heel-shaves, as they were intended for cobblers.

I'm with Keller on this one. What you have is a leather working tool. I used to have a good friend who was a saddle maker and he had several of these. It can also be called a "skiving" tool.

Yes, it is a cobbler's shave for working leather on heels. I bought one to do the saddling on my windsor chairs. I had to cut both handles off a couple inches so it would reach down into the saddled part of the seat. Much to my surprise, Curtis Bucannon used one modified just like mine when he was on Roy Underhill's show.

I guess great minds work alike.
