What Grizzly tools do any of you have which cost $1000 or less that are really worth buying? By "worth" I mean quality tools which will perform well, last a long time and are easy to use.

Your price point is right on the pivot of a few tools raved about by owners. The G0490 jointer at about $775 is great but the G0490X at about $1050 rocks. The 1023SL tablesaw also has a strong following at about $975. I have the G0513X and the G0490X and was impressed enough to order the G0440 at about $745.

Hi Gregg,
I have several Griz machines and think you can't go wrong with all, or virtually all of them. I think they are well made and are a good value when compared to other machines with similar features. Griz seems to be offering new models of the same size/style of equipment as they add features and improve design. Maybe a matter of market demand and being a smart competitor, or even a leader in the biz. It is logical to think that most of the components for all the brands are made by offshore manufacturers and they sell models with similar features and performance. Doesn't make your shopping any easier but offers more options for getting better deals. I have not had any need to test Griz's service dept. I live close to a showroom and have seen the displays and how contientious the staff is and most reports here are favorable, so CS wouldn't(shouldn't????) be a big factor. I have been checking CL and classifieds for upgrades with used stuff and I don't see many Griz things for sale. Don't know if that means much tho. Whew....... lot of hot air.......so.......yes the Griz machines are worth a good look and you can have confidence in their performance, service and value. Good luck, JCB.

Geez...half their catalog fits the bill!

My 1023SL I bought used fit this bill. I have seen so many good reviews of Grizzly Products that I would say most of what they produce gives good to excellent service for the money.

Here's another endorsement for the G0513x2 band saw. I also have a Shop Fox 8" parallellogram jointer. It's a Grizzly with different paint and it rocks!

I have: G0513x2, G0453, G0452, all are outstanding. I wish I had bought the 8" instead of the 6" jointer purely because I wish the beds were longer. The machine itself is impeccable. I had a G1023SL that was also impeccable, but I sold it to buy the G0513x2 since I don't have those kinds of funds just lying around and rarely use sheet goods. The bandsaw rips well enough that my shop functions fine without a table saw.

G0513 bandsaw is my first Grizzly machine. It will not be my last. Nice saw!

If the new Delta Unisaw fails to knock my sox off, I will strongly consider buying a Grizzly TS with a riving knife. Based on my other Grizzly machines, without even seeing it I'm confident it will be a good saw.

Ive has several Grizz tools but I just got the G0513X2 and the G0490X and though I cannot yet speak of longevity I can say without a doubt they are quality machines and made to excellent standards. Im very pleased with both machines!

i don't own but a family member does, their 3hp shaper. i think if someone is looking for a router table alternative that's the best bet at that price point.

the ~850 dollar mortiser they sell is a good alternative to 1000+ options from other manufacturers too.

Neal - oh don't tempt me. That mortiser is on my very short list. :D

it's a pretty solid machine for that price. my stepbrother has one. i made a few transom windows with it last year. it's not as heavy as the comparable powermatic or general mortisers, but it's just as accurate, imo, just have to anchor it to the floor if you're doing heavy (like door stile) work with it.

Wish I were buying again so I could get one with the riving knife, but it would be a Griz again. I've had my 1023SL since Oct of 03 and it gets used four our five times a week. I'm very happy with it with no regrets at all.

Short list? What's that??? Even my short lists seems rather lengthy...

+2 or 3 or whatever for the 0513X2. Love mine.
I also have a G0586, 8" jointer. Love it as well. A shelix head is on the "short list" for the jointer.... but it's been on that list for a year....

1071 OSS: pretty well made, quiet, easy to clean up so it works well (file off casting slag, etc), good value.
