Very Spaulted maple

Matt Kramer brought me this piece of spaulted maple that was almost to far gone. The finish is two part epoxy thinned with acetone. It was the only way to firm up the wood.

Bob, have you ever tried the minwax hardener? I tried it on a mesquite pen blank that was very punky, and it seemed to help quite a bit.

Good looking natural edge Bob! I'd say it was worth the effort!

Very nice bowl Bob. I've also used Minwax Wood Hardener good results. Thin CA works too.

Great looking NE. I use 2 part epoxy mixed with DNA. Never thought to use acetone.
