...the kind you want to have. ;)

You see, between the great deals on Bessey parallel clamps at Woodcraft and the Stanley ones at Big Lots, I find myself with a whole bunch of new clamps.

And nowhere to put them. :D

The wall clamp storage station I had set up before collapsed under the weight of these beefy clamps.

So, what are some good ways of storing parallel clamps? Anybody wanna post your clamp storage solution? Pics would be nice noo.

My shop has a fair amount of pegboard space on the walls that I'm not using for much. How can I effectively use that for clamp storage?

Porter,

When I moved into my new shop space two years ago I did not have enough wall space to store all my clamps, so I built a mobile clamp rack based on Norm's design from NYW. At first I was not real keen on the idea (because I thought floor space was more valuable than wall space), but after having this rack for a while I really like it. My longer Bessey's still hang on the wall using a wall mounted rack design that I got from "Smart Workshop Solutions" published by Fine Woodworking.

Porter, here's what I did, http://www.sawmillcreek.org/showthread.php?t=85011&highlight=clamp+rack. It was fast, easy and you can make it out of scraps. It's worked well for me. While I'd like a portable clamp rack I don't have the floor space for it.

I followed Russell's lead and made one similiar to his. Works great but does sag when open. I haven't had time to address that.

I have several of these and they work great. I have 40"Jet parallels on them and they will never strain from the weight.

My prototype rolling parallel jaw clamp stand will hold over 60 clamps. It doesn't take up much floor space and is low so there is absolutely no danger of tipping. Unlike the majority of clamp stands and racks, I designed it to hold the clamps in the "jaw down" position. The benefits are I can pickup and carry two to three clamps at one time in each hand, and there is never a danger of the moveable jaw slipping and pinching my hand.

These (http://www.sawmillcreek.org/attachment.php?attachmentid=78553&d=1199419915) are working for me but I have cleats on the walls so they fit in with my overall wall storage design. http://www.sawmillcreek.org/showthread.php?t=72897

Alan,

That is a nice design.

Porter -

I drilled slightly angled holes in a 2x6 and glued in ¾" dowels. Lag bolted the whole assembly to the studs. The pairs of dowels are staggered for maximum space utilization as shown in the pics.

I have two racks - one on each side of the shop . . er, I mean garage. Plan to add more.

Ted

I can't believe no one else has said this...

In MY shop, of course. Just call, I'll make room.
