Picked up a whole bunch of odd lots of wood from a guy who used to make custom guitars.
The two I thought might be of interest to the group was some ebony and several bookmatched pieces of 1/4" thick Koa that pictures just can't do justice.
The bundle of ebony is about 3 BF. There are 156 pieces of ebony 6" x 1.75" x 1/2". He said they were for frets. Looks like I need to learn how to turn skinny pens.

Very nice!
I've been on the lookout for some ebony to make a set of Chinese dominoes (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image:ChineseDominoes.JPG).
Good score.

Chris,
Thanks. Ironically, yesterday I bought the template kit from Rockler for drilling the dots on a set of dominoes. Good use for all those smaller pieces if I can figure out how to safely make them flat and parallel.
Thanks,

James, the pictures of Koa never really do it justice. So just send those on over here.
I was able to grab about a 5bf clab of 8/4 Koa with some modest figure when I was in hawaii, and the wood is spectacular. I can't wait to get to work on the project with it.
