I built this for our Great Grand Daughter, who will be 1 in April. Cherry and maple, with a double layer for the head and body. The plans were from Woodcraft plans.

Great looking horse. Does he have a name? I really like the eyes.

Very nicely done on the horse, Mike. You didn't by chance do the table that sits to the right? If so... I really like the design.

Sarge..

John;
The table was store bought before I retired and started this hobby. I like the design also. Maybe a copy is in order.

I was just surfing the wood online link for Wood magazine and found your horse. It is on the front page of the e-mail they send out to subscribers! Congrats!

Very nice work!

I made a similar horse for my daughter when she was born. It took a while for her to enjoy it, but once she was big enough (1yr) it became one of the best projects I've ever built ... simply because of her love for it then, and now (she's 2.5yrs).

Good choice of a gift!

Thanks for the heads up on that. I had failed to notice it and went back to the e-mail. Hey, I've been e-published. :)

Hello, I'm new here and I'm working on drawing up plans for a rocking horse for my Grandson (one of seven) I have seen in an earlier post about a 40 degree radius for the rocker itself but I'm not sure on the ends and it's height off the floor? Is there any set rules for this so the kids don't get knocked off there rocker because of a design flaw :) Thanks in advanced! Sorry to unintentionally hijack the post here :(

It looks like your granddaughter will be able to grow into that horse. Nice execution.....
