Hey folks. I have to build a cabinet for work that's going to take some abuse but I have to make it look halfway decent. I'm using 3/4" oak plywood and will be attaching the shelves with dadoes and screws. I wanted to glue a 1/4" plywood panel on the outer sides of the cabinet to cover up the screw holes and what not and I was trying to figure out the best way to do this.

Wood glue and alot of clamps? Construction adhesive? What about liquid nails for paneling? It will be before finishing if that helps.

Thanks!

Mike,
Do you have the kreg pocket hole jig?

If not I would recommend you go buy it for this project. For the price you would pay for the lower end jig kit it will wind up less money than you were going to spend on the 1/4 inch ply and you will have a new tool.

Furthermore, it will allow you to attach all the shelves from the inside of the carcass and the screws will not show from the outside.

Here are some options cheapest on top:

gluing will work. you could also pocket screw the exposed side or screw another 3/4" piece to it from the inside.

Simple glue and a few 23 gage pins driven at slight angles to hold it in place is how I accommodate this particular task.
