New to me anyway.

I found an ad in WOOD for a chisel that you use in a drill press or a mortiser.
Looks interesting. What do you think about it? Video at the link below.

Interesting concept, good video... but...

Easier? faster? more accurate?

It will allow any thickness board, or any length, in some cases, that makes it a very versatile system. However, the ChessMate offers any length, but still limits the thickness.

I don't think the cuts will be as clean as with a jig....

I also thought the cuts did not look as clean but that just may be whats needed for a handmade look.

That's a clever concept. And it appears it's up to the woodworker to make much of the jig components himself, which keeps the cost down.

I agree the results appear a little rough. Perhaps this method would be best for dovetails intended for strength over appearance.

Hi Dave,
I saw that new tool and posted it a while back. (link)

It looks like a novel approach, but did not seem to cut too clean.
I shared it as a curiousity... but all was quiet, except a few crickets.
Perhaps it does not bode well for the new product, that people seem uninterested?
Wish them luck with it,
Walt
