This is one of the big ones I roughed the other day. Measures 16 x 13 x 4, antique oil finish.

Looks good. I like NEs.
Reminds me of a larger version of one of the spalted maple pieces I did.
By the way, what is the difference between Ambrosia maple and spalted maple? Looks very similar to me.

Toney, this is actually hard maple. The ambrosia beetle gets in the tree and causes all the dark areas , hense the name ambrosia maple. Spalting is just the decaying process in any wood.

Good looking bowl Mike! Love the color variations and the size! Also like the curl - center right - on the 2nd photo! Will make for a great center piece! Nice work!
