Friend gave me an old B&D Dewalt 3578 Radial arm saw, Because it was in his way. Does anyone know if I can get a manual and 220 volt single phase motor for this saw?
Thanks

Head on over to www.owwm.com (http://www.owwm.com) they might have a manual for it.

Try owwm.com for manual, motor is NOT replaceable on a RAS you'll have to use a phase converter.

Thanks guys. Do you think I could have the motor rewound as 220 volt single phase?

Give the folks at Wolfe Machinery a call about that motor, possibly a manual too. They are the primary service center for old DeWalt RAS, sort of bought the repair business as I understand it when Black and Decker sold off the RAS business. Wolfe helped me fix up my 1949 GR-42. If yours has a B&D label, it isn't that old really!:D

You cannot rewind a three phase motor for single phase. A static converter will give approx 2/3 hp or a VFD will give full hp and other bells and whistles. Many folks go this route successfully. It's old tried and true technology and well within the realm of the home shop and very affordable.
