I visited a (relatively local) guy with a sawmill and wow, did he have a lot of wood. Walnut, Cherry, River Birch.. maple and so much more that I can't even remember... I picked up today, from left to right... a very nice figured piece of cherry... not sure if it's curly or quilted or a combination of both... some highly figured ambrosia maple and best of all, about 15 bf of American Chestnut... He has about 300 bf of reclaimed Chestnut and about 700 bf of newly sawed..... unbelievable!!!! I got the newly sawed. Reasonably priced as well. I have no idea what to make with this...but, had to leave with something.
Anyways.... here's the pic.

Bargains in wood are where we find them. You didn't mention if the lumber is kiln dried. Check the moisture content before attempting to use your new wood. It may require further drying. Also, insects can be a problem in wormy wood if not kiln dried. I found HUGE wood boring worms when planing some hackberry boards once upon a time. Not such a bargain after all. Good Luck Ed!
