Moderators if this doesn't fit here please move to the proper forum category.

Mary Jackson is a Basket Maker. She does a lot of shows including the Smithsonian Craft Show. I came across this story about her and thought I would share it with others. I hope you enjoy them as much as I did.

Thanks for posting that story. It's interesting to read the two very different takes on her. In the first story, she's working in a low rent, high crime area. In the second story, she's been known for a long time and has received $20,000 for a commissioned piece.

Interesting how different reporters write different stories.

I saw a show on PBS a few weeks back called "Craft in America", they showed Mary's work along with an interview, truely a gifted person and a gift to our society. Thank you for sharing this, her life and story are a true inspiration.

Thanks for all the replies. I saw Mary at a outdoor show in Fairhope AL this yr. But I had already heard of her from several different places.

I get so tired of the stories of crooked politicians and CEO's getting their Millions for failed businesses, that when something like this happens to what I consider, a "Regular" person it gives me a very Warm and Fuzzy feeling inside.
