What wood?

This is from a batch of old wood I picked up yesterday. As you can see from the unplaned portion, the outside was a very dark reddish brown. After I planed it the wood has a very distinct green cast to it. The red seems to go a bit into the wood as well, as parts that are planed smooth but not very deep still have red in them. It seems to be slightly less dense than cherry. Any idea what this could be?

Interesting. It looks like it could fit the description in "The Woodbook", which is a fabulous reference my girlfriend got me for my birthday.
