I've been using 250 watt heat lamp bulbs for heat and light in my shop. They are cheap and last longer than plain 250 watt incandescent bulbs.

I can get my gluing area to 65 degrees F in 1/2 hour and it's BRIGHT. I love getting light and heat for the same dollars. I live in Oregon so outside temp is about 35F to 45F most days in winter.

My uninsulated shop is 20'x30' with 28' ceilings now. I have a bank of 6 heat bulbs suspended above my glue bench. I only turn on all 6 bulbs to glue.
One big reason I'm adding a 2nd floor is to get 12' ceilings on the main floor. It will be easier to heat and light the entire shop.

I like the light quality, kinda like direct sunlight. I have some flourescent lighting to cut down on the shadows.
I mostly work in the shop in winter. In the summer I have lot's of windows and rarely work at night so the extra heat isn't a problem.
