I just purchased a used Delta 18/36 drum sander. What grit paper do you use the most? I work with mostly oak, cherry and maple.

on my 22-44 pro, i run 120... that's it. I don't futz with grit swapping... too much of a hassle imo

I have a double drum which has 150 and 180 on it. I clean the paper constantly but it does a very good job.

On my 22-44 I find that changing the belts is a pain so I decided a while back that I will use my sander to get things flat and dimensioned via 80 grit only. I then use my RO sander to go through the higher grits.

Similar to Mr. Rowe, I concentrate on flat. I have a 26" Griz double drum and I use 80 and 120. Festool ROS takes care of the rest. Sometimes I just drive to my buddies and use his Widebelt. He mostly uses 100 or 120 on it I believe but I will ask him. He can change paper on it in a few seconds. I dream of one of those in my shop!

120 grit only since i mainly run raised panel doors through it.
