that piece is sweet!, how is it to turn?, i turned something that could have been gum and it turned like butter, better than cherry

Very nice design, Mike, and the execution of that design is outstanding. I would expect that void caused some pause for thought based on how thin the piece appears to be.

Thanks guys,
Steve, don't know if you would call it lessons or not. One member here , Paul Rains, stopped by some time back and I roughed a piece and shared some tool techniques. Recently I done a demo on the court house square on the mini. I turned several long stem goblets from some green ash ,got them so thin that the ladies keft their hands on their face:D
Thats me in the upper left hand corner.

That's a beautiful piece, Mike but then, all your turnings are beautiful. I always search for any new posts from you just to see what you've turned next.

Congrats on the newspaper story and pic. Looks like you have arrived as a turner. :)

Mike, That is a great looking bowl. Did the black gum move a lot as it dried?

You sure have the 'touch' Mike! I keep looking at that thin natural edged collar and thinking how pretty it is.

Jack, usually black gum does move a lot, but this one didn't.

Another exquisite piece, Mike. I really like your choice on how to do this form with the included natural edge rim. Most excellent!
