A big limb fell out of a chestnut oak tree in Roberts park in Connersville Indiana and the guy cutting it up gave me a couple of pieces. After hurricane Ike i got an even bigger piece, as LOML was eating lunch there one day an saw the guys cutting it up. She talked to them and they ended up putting a big chunk in the trunk. I could barely get it out when I got home. This chestnut oak turned better than white oak, doesn't seem to chip out as badly. It turned out 9.5" x 3.5". I gave it an oil finish.
