I measured the runout in my morse taper spindle at .005" Saturday (inside). I had gotten a used dead center to use for pen turning, and was going to true it up, when I noticed not just the end of it wobbling but the taper part of it wobbling.
I stuck my dial indicator inside the taper of my spindle and checked. I wasn't real happy after that. :mad: The outside wasn't too bad at .0025", but that inside isn't acceptable.
I'm going to save up for a bigger lathe, and this time I'm going to carry my measuring tools with me when I check it out. :cool:
