Here is a maple burl bowl with a few of my latest turkey calls in it. Four of the calls have RHODODENRON BURL inserts in them. Two have Amboyna burl inserts and the other is bocote.
Thanks,
Jack

Jack, They are beautiful!! I shot a 24lb double bearded tom this spring with my crossbow! Shooting the 12ga is a little rough on my shoulder, with a torn rotator cuff. I really like the design. What type of slate or glass are you using? I made one a few years ago but not that nice, I had some old slate that was used for the hearth of a fireplace. So I turned a piece of black walnut on my old shopsmith and cut the slate with a jigsaw and sanded it till it fit nice and TADA!! a turkey call. It is very soft and makes great purrs and clucks so I use it when the big gobbler hangs up at 60yds.

I am getting long winded again, so again they are beautiful and the bowl is
grand!

Thanks for the nice pics!

Jeff,
I get my slate from Penn Bigbed Slate Company in Pennsylvania. It is cut to size which saves a ton of time. Last time I ordered it cost around $1.40 a piece. I use 3 1/2" for the striking surface and 3" for the sound board under the top surface.

Jack, That is a great way to get the slate already pre-cut! I will have to look into that ans see what I can come up with.

Thanks again,

Jeff
