When personalizing such things as beer mugs, glasses, etc. do you normally leave the labels on or take them off. I realize that some items might have a UPC sticker right where you would want to engrave and it would be necessary to remove it but hopefully that would be the exception. I have been told that it is mandatory to leave on any label that shows the country of origin but I find it hard to believe that this is always done.

Your comments would be appreciated.

Hi Don,

Not a legal expert, but if you are supplying the base item then the label should be left on or moved if it is in the wrong place. CAREfully use the low heat cycle on a paint stripping heat gun and they peel right off and then you can stick em back where you like.

If the customer brings it in for personalizing, have at it as the end user already has taken possession. If concerned, ask them to peel off the label.
