Wow, I see on amazon.com that this book is selling (used) for between $150 and $400. I guess I need to take mine out of my not-so-clean workshop and put it in the old safe deposit box.

I got an e-mail from David Fink saying that he owned the rights and was going to re-print it. He was asking for suggestions on the type of binding.

HARDBACK! Paperback books are so easy to destroy in a shop environment. I love the Schwarz hardback workbench book. It's perfect and folks would certainly be willing to pay the few dollars extra for the quality binding.

One option he was exploring was soft cover, another was hard cover with a spiral binding (so it would lay flat when open). I can't remember the third option.

I think he should ask Lost Art Press to reprint like Chris Schwartz had the Maxon Book "The Art of Joinery" I just ordered it and cant wait to see it..

I have one off David's Books and consider it the first plane book everyone should buy, it has details on ever aspect of using a hand plane..

I'd go with the second option.

If/when this book is reprinted, I'd love to hear about where one can buy it from. I've got a friend that has borrowed my copy on occasion, I'd like to get him his own copy for a Christmas gift.

Hardback, smith sewn, would be the best choice, I'd think. I'd buy a copy.

Wow that the book I was talking about!
I just bought mine like a year or two ago and was the second edition. They just need to print bigger batches I think..

I paid like $20 for mine..
If its reprinted I highly recommend getting a copy..

It's an excellent book, and the publisher is too cautious in deciding how many copies to print. I was delighted when the second edition came out so I could finally buy a copy.

If you want a copy, you can contact the author David Finck through his website http://www.davidfinck.com . Even if he has no copies left, if enough people let him know they want one it might give him the leverage he'd need to get another run of books printed.

wow! for something printed just a couple of years ago. I bet that made David Fink feel good that his book is in such demand.
I might be tempted to give mine up for a meazly $75 ;)

Hmm, I bought my copy new last year for something like $15. I think from Amazon.

I'll be glad to part with mine for a c-note, I wasn't that impressed.

That was my opinion as well. It's a nice coffee-table book, but I don't personally like Krenov-style wooden planes. For that reason, I like Whelan's book(s) much better. Perhaps I should sell my copy before the re-print arrives.

From David Finck on 11/3 in Answer to will your book be reprinted.

Yes, I will be self-publishing and hope to have the book back in print in about 6 weeks. I`ll let you know when it is out again.
Best,
David
