Are you building it for a lunch box planer?

If you want the stand to save space here is mine.

Is that one of the set ups like they use for sewing machines? If it is one of those drop down tables that tucks in would you care to show a bit more about it and where you sourced the hardware for it?
Thanks,
Larry R

Its just some 2x4s, a piece of pipe and 2 flip over clamps, it works very well for me and save a lot of space.

Here is the basic plans I made.

Here's my stand for an old Delta portable planer. It's very stable when open, and very compact when closed. I can also run short boards thru it without opening it up. I also store my portable lathe parts underneath (I have a small shop).

If you've got the room here's my setup. I ran the table board all the way through the planer. It helps reduce snipe and the MDO is slick so the boards slide through easy. I pocket-holed the MDO end to end on the bottom side.

I was going to build something the scrap cart that was posted somewhere else on this board..... But I was going to attach a planer to the top. It would be where the planer would be turned 90 degrees to it on the top. So you'd have a dual use tool area where you can have small storage below, larger vertical storage behind the planer and still have the stability you need to utilize the planer since you would be running board the width of it, not the depth. I really like the idea above with the extended wings. I'll be adding that to my design as well. It's a great idea.

PS I was trying to post the PDF of the scrap cart but it's too big.

Cheers,
Ryan

I was able to shrink it down.. See attached...

This is the basic design. I would make it a bit larger though and only have the one larger vertical storage in the back.

Here is one from Dominic Greco from back in 2005 and it's a good multi-tool flip top stand.

I use the rolling base from an old Crafstman table saw. Years ago I built a cabinet type base for my saw. The legs made for a perfect platform to fasten a piece of plywood to and bolt down my Delta lunchbox planer. I put casters on the bottom, so I have a spot out of the way in the shop i can just roll it into when I'm not using it.

Hello,
I stole Glenn's idea and copied his flip top design.
Mine's 30" high inside to accommodate the 29" tall bench mount drill press.
