Hi All,

Has anyone given any consideration to copyright issues with commercial photos of people? I have done a couple Graduation and Communion pictures from commercial photographers - these guys are local and I wanted to "Show off" the end result, but then I got to thinking that I may be exposing myself to unnecessary trouble. So, has anyone dealt with this or have any experience?

Thanks - I'm a burnin' away!

Steve

Steve,

Usually photographers will oblige putting their photographs on engraveables.
However, any graphics you reproduce must have permission from their copyright owners, and incidentally, most commercial photographers retain their copyrights and just sell the prints.

So, if you can work it out, I would call the photography studio.. photo engraving is not likely a service they can perform, and they will usually agree to let you engrave it without royalties. Stock photography is a different story.. Either way, I wouldn't leave out this important legal step!
