For a friend's 60th birthday. He gave me some walnut a few years ago. The top is bookmatched spalted maple.

Finish so far is just BLO, to be followed by some coats of shellac. Couldn't wait to post it.

The bottom is a raised panel.

Dimensions are 8 3/8" x 4" x 1 3/4"

Wonderful Job Ken and your friend is going to love it. Great wood and excellent dovetails. That box is a winner in anyone's book.

I normally don't like spalted anything, but that top just looks right on that box.

Great job on the DT's too!

Thanks Bob and Joe.

I don't usually like putting different woods together in a piece, but the color of the spalting went just right with the walnut.

So, those are London dovetails? I just like making them small. Thanks for telling me. I learn something here every day.
