when I use the text tool click in a object the text go to the top of the plate with a bold black line with yellow dashes through it (it should stay in the object). How do I turn this off? I have hunted for a long time now sawmill people always have the answer.

What version are you utilizing?

Try clicking the text tool while depressing the shift tool
