If this bowl was three inches round with no major bark inclusions, I would be happy (and a little surprised)...
Since this bowl is 15 inches in diameter and 4 1/2 inches high, I'm ASTOUNDED (and this is one of 4 blanks I managed to core from the same tree!
I also got quite a bit of clear burl material which I have already cut up for my "OATS" segmenting.
Kukui nut oil sanded to 600, bee's wax burnished.

It's been a while since I posted, and that's because it's been a while since I actually had time to turn anything, I hope you like it!

Now THAT is some amazing wood. When I opened your post I said "wow".

You form is great because it is simple and stays out of the way of the wood.

I wish I could find a burl like that.

George,

I really like the form, the rim embellishments. The wood is outstanding.

George,

Absolutely gorgeous. If you also got additional cores out of the same blank that is fantastic to hear.

This burl may be a once in a lifetime opportunity, I am going to revel in it and relish turning it.
Thank You, EVERYONE, it's nice to be back on the boards a bit, I SHOULD have more to show over the coming months...
Not just of this burl, but I have (actually / literally) at least a ton of wood to try and get through.

George, you could have done a bad job on it and the wood would speak for itself. However the bowl looks great, I really like the rim.

That is stunning. My wife was floored by that. She said it's the prettiest bowl she's seen.

Well done.

Unfortunately, I will be out of town for that...
