Started out to be a bowl until the better half saw it. To large for us to use for anything, can't eat that much popcorn. It measures 9.75 across and 6.75 high. There are 213 pieces of oak and walnut in it. To "water proof" the inside there are 3 coats of 5 minute epoxy and the outside is finished with poly.
Comments welcome, advice appreciated.

Gerold - very nice segmented work! Good design, tight joints and nice color combination! I think it would make a great ice cream bowl! Looking forward to seeing more of your work!

Very nice work Gerold! Are you sure you want to use it for a planter. It would hold a lot of popcorn.

Richard, done drilled the hole for drainage. Afraid the butter would make a mess on my jeans!!! Besides the wife already has a plant in the thing! By the number of plants she has I wonder how Round Up would be for an inside finish?:D

Gerold,
Best save the Round Up for the weeds and be glad your wife is happy with new planter. Will tend to improve chances of your being happy. Hope you used the epoxy on ID of the drainage hole.

We have lots of indoor plants that improve the air quality, and some very nice landscaping outside thanks to my wife's creative and horticultural abilities and a lot of hard work on her part.
