Hi everyone
I'm just getting started in laser engraving and wondering what type of items that is your best sellers. My main business is awards, but would like to try other things.
Thanks for any suggestions.

Welcome to the Creek George, I tend to do awards and bespoke items for my clients, love working with wood as it always looks fantastic. It tends to vary from person to person and where you intend making your target. Awards can still be lucrative and the laser lends itself whole heartedly to that market.

Wholesale production work for other sign shops is far and away my best seller. Mostly laser cut acrylic letters and logos, but also engraved signs, name badges, nameplates.

Second is prototyping, various materials for designers in various manufacturing areas.

Third is probably custom labels for contractors, especially electrical and
safety/alarm systems, and (until recently) custom luxury boats.

I do very little retail one-off jobs these days, and very few awards.

We tend to focus on the gift/retail side of things. We do awards and plaques, but few trophies. We also have started doing more "Weapon Tattoos". Let me tell you, it is fun, but very nerve wracking. I also love working with wood. I love the smell of cut wood. I guess we should have opened a wood shop. Gifts are always good though!

People love wood! Get some thin sheets to play with vector cutting great for ornaments , gifts or gift tags turned ornaments after they open the present.
Thin acrylic sheets work great too.

If you have problems find a reasonably priced or odd sized sheets search under scroll saw wood (A note of warning though scroll sawers aren't too keen
on us laser folk)
