These machines look awfully similar. Is there a difference or is it just coincidence?

The same man owns both companies. The two companies are separate AFAIK, but sell equipment that is often very similar/identical, though it's not always. (ie: teh SF W1677 is the same as the Griz G1023SL) Grizzly is direct importer who retails primarily via mail order. SF has a dealer network and a 2 year warranty vs 1 yr.

Same company. Shopfox is for outlets to sell and Grizzly is sold direct.

Only diff., besides the color, is the SF has a 2 year warranty. But they usually cost more as there is more markup by the dealer.

The items are not usually identical, there is typically some accessory or slight difference that seperates them. But they are usually the same underlying construction.
