These are our kitchen cabinets I built back in 2004. We were building our own house, so I had lots of cabinets to build that year. :) As usual, birch plywood for the carcass, pine for the face frames and drawer fronts, and leftover T&G scraps for the door panels.
We settled on a finish that works well with the pine. Sand to 150 grit, apply Minwax wood preconditioner, stain with Minwax "Windsor Oak" gel stain, and apply three coats of oil based satin polyurethane (sanding lightly with 220 grit between coats).
