Well, so much for other wood. I have got A LOT of this spalted maple and I might as well use it. Definitely does not hurt that I love the look of the wood.

This piece is not heavily spalted but I do like it. The heaviest piece I have done by far. It was a pain to sand since the edge is rounded.

17" x 2 1/2" - Antique oil finish. I have not buffed it and I don't think I will. I like the matte look on this piece. Notice the hole towards the edge? Found a nail with my gouge. Completely buried but it did not stain the wood much. Thankfully not much damage to the gouge.

Toney - my first thought was to make sure you grab a metal detector and go over the rest of your wood stash! Nails are not fun and worth the effort to find them!

As to the bowl - really nice form! I like the profile photo cause it makes you want to peak inside. Not as heavily spalted as your others - like you said - but is still a pretty wood. I believe the contemporary form will grab a lot of attention and that is a big plus in my book!

Nice work! Looking forward to seeing what you come up with next!
