Afetr listening to my Jet lunchbox thicknesser (planer) struggle with the Australian hardwood I use, I decided to retire it to softwood processing and get myself a real planer. Boy is this thing heavy ! And rather than scream like a banshee, it sort of rumbles like a big V8 motor.
I work with a timber known here as River Red Gum, which is very dense, very heavy and so tough that it has been used for railway ties for many years. Nevertheless, it is a beautiful timber when finished, and this new machine is going to eat a lot of it without getting indigestion.:D
